Important: thoroughly explain the patient’s situation
The emergency medical technician and the paramedic take the patient into the hospital on the stretcher. There the paramedic tells the doctor or nurse everything that they need to know about the patient. What has happened; which tests have been carried out; what help has been given; and what their diagnosis is. Then the doctors and nurses take over. Phew! That was quite a job. You would think that the ambulance crew would now take a rest. But no, the emergency medical technician reports back to the emergency dispatch centre that they are ready for duty again, and drives back to the ambulance station. And that’s how it goes. All day, every day – even on weekends, holidays, and at night.
