Where possible, the nurse-paramedic will ask the patient if they have a preference for a particular hospital. Although the patient’s choice is important – and there may be good reasons for their preference – the choice of hospital is also determined by the treatment required, the urgency of the situation, and the available capacity of the hospitals at the time.
